Hello Cheese and Wine Lovers!
The temperature rises and our vines are about to begin to bud; it is usually during this month (in the northern hemisphere) that you can observe this phase considered as “the miracle of the vine”.
In this important month for the vine, we have selected a canton that is an excellent representative of organic and sustainable viticulture in Switzerland: Aargau! Discover with us the flavors of this canton in our April Apéro Box!
About the wine-growing region of Aargau
Aargau is a canton and a wine appellation in the center of northern Switzerland. This appellation has about 380 hectares of vineyards, has a mild climate that is influenced by numerous rivers and streams that cross the canton. Due to its climate, Aargau produces mainly red wines, mostly Pinot Noir, while Müller-Thurgau predominates as the white variety.
2019 Sauvignon Blanc of Buchmann Winery
The Buchmann winery, located in the commune of Wittnau, is a family business that is today run by its second generation. It is a winery that is committed to sustainable and natural viticulture with an innovative and passionate vision. Since the planting of its first vines in 1979, the winery has grown successfully and now has 16 different wines between reds and whites, some of them which have been awarded prizes such as the Vinea gold medal at the Mondial des Pinots 2017.
The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc offered by this winery is a wine of straw yellow color with silvery reflections, with a high aromatic intensity, aromas mainly of fruits such as passion fruit, pineapple and lychee, and notes of chamomile; on the palate it is a wine of high acidity with tropical fruit flavors and a long persistence. It is deliciously fresh and fun!
About the pairing
This Sauvignon Blanc is wonderfully enjoyable with our Wollknäuel. The acidity of this wine along with the creamy texture and yogurt flavor of the sheep cheese make an exquisite pairing highlighting the tropical flavors of the wine. This delicious flavor will stay in your mouth for a long time.
The pairing with our Künter Spezial is a unique experience. This semi-hard cheese envelops us in butter and a silky texture that is very well received by the acidity of the wine, allowing us to enjoy both foods without losing their flavors at any time.
When we speak of a new stage in the cycle of the vine, we speak of a new challenge that winegrowers have ahead of them and it is in our mouths where all this work is celebrated. Let’s toast to the cycle of the vine with this marvelous Sauvignon Blanc from our April Apéro Box!
